RustJobs We’re working with a startup in the cybersecurity and AI space. The team has already built an MVP and is now scaling both the product and engineering team as they accelerate go-to-market.
They are looking to hire a strong Backend Rust Engineer
What you’ll do
- Work directly on a production Rust-based backend system
- Debug and improve performance, reliability, and system behavior
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers in a hands-on environment
- Ship features quickly in a fast-paced startup setting
What they’re looking for
- Solid production experience with Rust
- Strong backend or systems engineering background
- Comfortable working with existing code and figuring things out independently
- Pragmatic, execution-focused engineer who enjoys building and shipping
- Startup mindset with a bias toward action
Nice to have
- Experience with distributed systems or infrastructure
- Exposure to AI tooling or modern development workflows
Hiring process
- Intro / alignment call
- Technical assignment
- 1-hour technical interview
Additional notes
- Candidates must be based in the Toronto / GTA area
- On-site presence in Oakville is important for collaboration and ramp-up
- This is a hands-on role, not an architecture-heavy position
