Overview
This is a Staff-level backend engineering role with meaningful ownership over architecture and technical direction. The environment is highly engineering-driven, with backend systems treated as long-term products rather than short-lived services.
You will work on security-critical, high-performance backend systems written in Rust, with a focus on correctness, scalability, and maintainability.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across backend systems written in Rust
- Drive architecture for security-critical, high-performance services
- Design and implement systems related to:
- Cryptography
- Authentication and authorization
- Identity and trust infrastructure
- Mentor 4–8 backend engineers, contributing hands-on where it matters
- Work across event-driven and serverless architectures
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product stakeholders
Requirements
- Strong production experience with Rust
- Staff-level seniority with exposure to complex, distributed systems
- Experience designing backend systems where security, correctness, and performance are critical
- Familiarity with modern backend and cloud architectures
- Comfortable mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: €100,000 – €130,000
- Annual bonus: ~15%
