This position will be part of the KION Group - Mobile Automation Product Development team! KION Mobile Automation (KMA) is the world-leading, fast-growing, innovative frontrunner in the development of mobile robotics, robotic fleet controllers and cloud-based fleet logistics management systems. KMA has a focus on Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems. AGVs are fully autonomous robots that move and transport items in production, warehouse, and distribution centers without manual intervention or permanent conveying systems.
Position Location: Holland, MI
What we offer:
Day-to-day activities will vary, but will largely focus on the area of mapping and localization. This involves the development of advanced techniques for mapping, localization, and pose estimation of mobile robotic systems based on various types of sensors (camera, lidar, IMU, etc.).
Tasks and Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience
- Pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university
- GPA 3.0 or higher
- Significant experience with the Rust programming language, its ecosystem, and essential crates (note that we also use other major high-level programming languages)
Desired Skills and Experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience developing software as part of a team
- Familiarity with best practices in software development
- Ability to implement new algorithms efficiently and rigorously
- Strong quantitative ability
- Experience working with embedded systems with real-time constraints
- Experience with software engineering tools (e.g. git, gdb, etc.)
