Rust Database Engineer

A well-funded, high-growth database startup is hiring senior Rust Engineers to help build the next generation of high-performance search and analytics technology. They are nearing product–market fit and expanding their core engineering team as they move from early “zero-to-one” development toward a polished 1.0 release.

Their vision is to eliminate that fragmentation by delivering a fast, reliable, and unified database platform that replaces the need for multiple systems, resulting in simpler architecture, higher performance, and dramatically lower total cost of ownership.

Role: Rust Database Engineer

You will work on core database components: indexing, storage, query execution, performance engineering, and internals-level systems design. The ideal candidate has strong Rust experience and a background in databases or low-level systems, but the company values adaptable, fast-learning engineers over perfect alignment.

What they’re looking for

• 3–10 years of engineering experience
• Strong Rust skills
• Background in databases, storage engines, or distributed systems
• Ability to dive deep into internals-level performance and architecture
• Bonus: experience at a successful database or infrastructure company

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $200k-$300k + equity

Location

• Strong preference for San Francisco
• Remote candidates are welcome, expectations are higher the further you are from SF
• Founding team is SF-based (or relocating shortly)

Interview Process

1.	30–45 min: Introduction with Founder/CEO
2.	1 hour: Technical discussion with Founder/CTO
3.	1 hour: Technical discussion with Head of Engineering
