About us

At simpl.energy we’re on a mission to accelerate decarbonisation through electrification despite existing limitations of our electricity grids. We do so by providing insights into our customers' power peaks and by mitigating them through smart steering of flexible assets like batteries, charging stations, heat pumps, and more. Combining our cloud-hosted energy management system (EMS) and a local gateway enables this at scale.

About the role

We are looking for a versatile software engineer who can solve hard problems in code elegantly and efficiently. Your focus will be on the cloud-hosted parts of our Energy Management System while working closely together with the local gateway developers.

You need to have an intrinsic sense of curiosity and a huge sense of adventure as we are entering uncharted territory. Smartening our electricity grids will accelerate the energy transition and will make it more economical than many realize.

Responsibilities

  • Developing event-driven Lego blocks of code that perform data processing, flexible asset planning, role-based access control, and more.
  • Creating resilient, reliable, and efficient software.
  • Be responsible for running your code in production.
  • Striking a balance between constant improvement and speed of development.
  • Share knowledge with your colleagues.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of coding and cloud experience in a relevant work environment.
  • Most of our platform is coded in Rust, experience is very desirable.
  • Not fearing or frowning upon other languages. We also have a healthy dose of Python, which you might look at now and then.
  • Be pragmatic at one moment and stick to your principles at other moments.
  • Engage in healthy discussions on functionality and quality and don't refrain from receiving and giving constructive feedback.
  • Come to the office at least two times a week.
  • We can offer relocation assistance and a work permit if you don’t live or work in the Netherlands.
  • Be a pleasant team member and actively seek collaboration.
  • Wholeheartedly support the energy transition to a sustainable energy economy.

Compensation plan

Competitive salary package including a solid share-based component to benefit from the potential upside. Besides, we offer travel compensation for commuting and customer visits. Also, compensation for courses to improve your skills (including soft skills). Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday drinks with your colleagues and a remarkable one-year ski-trip with the whole team.
