Job description

• The ideal candidate is a polyglot developer with more than ten years of programming experience across many languages.
• As a Senior Developer, you will drive the innovation of new software products and platforms with the Rust programming language.
• You have a solid working knowledge of distributed database engines.
• You have more than seven years of C++ and database, and networking experience.
• You are organized and self-motivated and pick up business domain models quickly.
• We are located 2 hours north of Toronto in the Blue Mountains area. The Blue Mountains is a four-season nature getaway.
• You work remotely and can enjoy periodic trips to the Blue Mountains to enjoy nature and connect with our remote team.

Responsibilities

• Write high-performance code in Rust for a scalable and distributed streaming analytics platform.
• Optimize query, search and compute algorithms in Rust with Apache Arrow.
• Build highly scalable distributed Rust applications.
• Build high-performance distributed data table applications with Apache Arrow.
• Build distributed fault-tolerant applications with Kubernetes and equivalent container technologies.
• Contribute to open-source projects.
• Build machine learning and other complex algorithms with Rust

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• Exceptional algorithm design skills
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in C++, SQL
• Expertise in Database Design, Query Engine Design, and Database storage engines
• Excellent ability to map business domains to data models
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
