Software Team Lead

Arkeus is a world leader in the provision of wide-area optical search systems in the Search, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance space for Defence, Civil Defence, and Environmental Sustainment applications. We specialise in the design, fabrication, and distribution of these innovative systems. We have just secured $4.45M in funding from deep tech and industry expert investors Main Sequence, Beaten Zone Venture Partners and Salus Ventures which will enable us to scale our next-generation hardware-enabled software platform for search, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions.

About the role:

You will lead a team of talented Software Engineers to deliver the Software component on our Product roadmap.

This dynamic role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced R&D environment, where you will actively contribute to the creation and implementation of high-performance software solutions for real-time problems.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Analyse and develop product requirements to formulate software specifications.
• Establish and refine a clear DoD (Definition of Done) for each development phase Develop and refine software delivery in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Communicate product vision, progress and risks to stakeholders and team.
• Balance and evaluate priorities and trade-offs in software development and delivery
• Manage the lifetime of software features using modern development processes.
• Define resourcing and timelines for delivery targets.
• Develop and improve QA processes to support delivery of quality software.
• Define and implement Software configuration management.
• Coach engineers by providing regular, practical feedback and collaboratively help them reach their goals

Your skills and experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology
• Previous experience in leading a software development team of 3+ members
• 5+ years of programming experience
• Experience with C++ or RUST programming languages, focus on back-end software.
• 2+ years of experience with Linux OS
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Scrum or Agile experience

Nice to Have:

• Experience with embedded Linux development: board bring-up and kernel/device drivers.
• Experience with edge AI, Robotic.
• Experience with software infrastructure and sysadmin.
